• Put them at the top
• use > between the levels
• use tiny type – Breadcrumbs are just an accessory
• use the term “You are here”
• Bold face the last item – highlights where they are
• Don’t use as a substitute for a page name

Reminders on Navigation:

1. Every page needs a name on it (main headline)
2. Name needs to match what was clicked to get there
3. Name needs to be prominent
4. Have a “you are here” marker

Essential Elements Of Persistent Navigation – Steve Krug

1. Site ID or Logo: Your sense of where you are
2. Sections/Primary Navigation: May include secondary navigation as well
3. The Utilities (help, site map, cart, About Us, Contact etc.): Less prominent sections
4. A way to search: Simple search with no options to breakdown (Make sure it works)
5. A way to get home
